Advanced computing is essential to the mission of the National Security Agency. Over the years, a state-of-the-art computing infrastructure has maintained the development of secure cryptographic algorithms for U.S. communications and the exploitation of foreign communications. Today, we remain committed to the computer sciences and attract some of the brightest computer professionals in the nation. After being an early computer pioneer, the NSA has continued to lead in computer research and the development of state-of-the-art computer capabilities. We rely on a vast network of advanced computing resources in order to collect, sort, process and analyze the raw data that produces foreign intelligence. Our current needs span several computing disciplines, including scientific programming, modeling, engineering, signals processing, graphical user interfaces, secure computing, text processing, data base sorting and retrieval, artificial intelligence, and neural networks. Cooperative efforts with universities and private industry are pushing the NSA's supercomputing capabilities even further. With technology transfer, the NSA is dedicated to sharing its computing advancements with commercial enterprises. |
