Moore to highlight Addiction Recovery Month

(KANSAS CITY, KAN.) — Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District—Kansas) will join area service providers in recognizing National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month on Friday, September 3, at Kansas City Kansas Community College.

The event, hosted by the Heartland Regional Drug and Alcohol Assessment Center for Northeast Kansas, will include remarks from Congressman Moore, as well as Annabeth Surbaugh, Chairman of the Board, Johnson County Commissioners. Moore will speak about the benefits of recovery programs and services, like those provided by the Johnson County Mental Health Center’s Adult Detoxification Unit.

“Battling an alcohol or drug use disorder can be an ongoing and difficult journey,” Moore said. “These addictions impact everyone, from teens and parents to coworkers and neighbors. Federal, state and local agencies must work together to ensure that families who need assistance receive it.”
