Ellsworth Request Designed to Grow Businesses and Bring Jobs to West-Central Indiana Approved
WASHINGTON - Living up to his pledge to disclose projects that are on track to receive federal dollars, Rep. Brad Ellsworth today announced Congress has approved federal funds for a Center for New Business Development in Terre Haute that will create businesses and bring jobs to West-Central Indiana. The $500,000 in funding for the Center was included as part of the FY 2008 Omnibus Appropriations measure approved by both chambers this week.
The funds were requested by the City of Terre Haute and will be used to support a Center for Business Development there. The City has formed a partnership with Indiana State University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to develop and grow small businesses and increase innovation-based job opportunities in the region. The Center will further strengthen this partnership.
"It's great to see the City of Terre Haute, ISU, and Rose-Hulman coming together with a common purpose: to better our community. The Center for Business Development can result in innovative businesses and more job opportunities to West-Central Indiana," said Ellsworth. "I am proud to have supported this project, and I hope the President will sign the bill into law soon."
The FY 2008 Omnibus Appropriations measure was approved by the House and Senate earlier this week. The President is expected to sign the bill into law.
