Dreier Votes To Keep Internet Tax Ban In Place
October 30, 2007
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA), Rules Committee Ranking Republican, voted today to keep the Internet tax ban in place for seven more years. H.R. 3678, the Internet Tax Freedom Act Amendments Act was approved with bipartisan support, with a 402-0 vote.
"The Internet must be free from excessive taxation and this bill will help achieve that," Dreier said. "Internet commerce means jobs and convenience for millions of Americans. We need to do all we can to ensure that access to these opportunities remains as open as possible."
Dreier stated that he would have preferred to have voted on H.R. 743, The Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act of 2007 a bill that permanently bans Internet taxes that he has co-sponsored. Dreier is committed to a permanent Internet tax ban, which would promote continued Internet access and commerce while also ensuring that businesses and consumers are not unfairly taxed.
