Dreier Applauds Schwarzenegger Proclamation of California Wildfire Awareness Week
May 7, 2007
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA) applauded California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today for proclaiming May 6-12, 2007 Wildfire Awareness Week. Dreier said the impending wildfire season should serve as a reminder to all California residents to be prepared and take important steps to protect their homes and property.
"Wildfire season is a dangerous time for all of us," Dreier said. "That’s why proper preparation is so imperative. Steps like clearing brush and vegetation from your home can help prevent fires, or keep them from getting out of control. Having an evacuation plan in place for your family or business can make a huge difference when time is of the essence and a fire is approaching. We all must do our part to help protect our communities and fellow citizens. I commend Governor Schwarzenegger for issuing this proclamation and bringing fire safety to the attention of all Californians."
Dreier said the Los Angeles and San Bernardino County Fire Departments have extensive safety guidelines on their web sites- http://fire.lacounty.gov/SafetyPreparedness/SafetyPrepFireStorms.asp and http://www.sbcfire.org/pdf/Fire%20Season%20Preparation%202005.pdf.
