Dreier Offers Condolences to People of Armenia

May 3, 2006

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas,CA), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, offered his condolences today to the people of Armenia, following the tragic crash of an Armavia Airlines jet, claiming 113 lives. He sent the following letter to Armenian President Robert Kocharian and Ambassador Tatoul Markarian:

"I write to offer my deepest condolences on the recent Armavia Airlines crash over the Black Sea coast.

"I know what an incredibly difficult time this is for all of Armenia and the friends and family of those whose lives were tragically cut short. Because of our strong ties, this is a particularly sad loss for both our countries. I hope that the ongoing rescue efforts are successful so that all of the victims may be properly laid to rest.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the Armenian people as they mourn their loss."
