Dreier Statement on Retirement Announcement of Chairman Bill Thomas

March 6, 2006

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier R-San Dimas, CA), Leader of the California Republican Congressional Delegation, made the following statement today in reaction to the announcement of Ways and Means Chairman Bill Thomas (R-Bakersfield, CA) that he will retire at the end of this term:

"Bill Thomas has served his constituents, California, and the nation very well, with great enthusiasm and passion. His retirement will create a void in the Congress. He is a very skilled legislator who recognizes the importance of cutting taxes and opening up new markets to benefit American workers and consumers. He will leave a legacy of strong economic growth and I look forward to continuing to work with him over the next year."
