Dreier Statement on the Capture of Armando Garcia

February 23, 2006

GLENDORA, CA - Congressman David Dreier (R - San Dimas, CA) issued the following statement today in reaction to the apprehension of Armando Garcia, wanted for the 2002 murder of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy David March:

"The capture of Armando Garcia is a victory for justice and, most important, for the March family. Law enforcement on both sides of the border deserves tremendous credit for working together and staying on his trail for nearly four years. This success demonstrates the importance of an ongoing dialogue between our two countries.

"When Deputy March was brutally murdered in 2002, Los Angeles County lost a brave and dedicated public servant. With today's arrest, the opportunity for prosecution of this heinous crime is now possible. I commend all involved with this critical capture."
