Dreier Statement on President’s Budget Proposal
February 5, 2007
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA), House Rules Committee Ranking Republican, issued the following statement on the President’s fiscal year 2008 budget request:
“Ultimately, growing the economy is the best way to shrink the deficit, as demonstrated by the last two years where the projected deficit has been cut in half. This is large part due to the historic revenue growth and the creation of more than 7 million new jobs in the past three and a half years under Republican economic policies. We must continue to pursue a fiscal and economic agenda that keeps these gains on track.
“Republican pro-growth policies have slashed the deficit in half in just two years, and led to historic revenue growth and the creation of more than 7 million new jobs in the past three and a half years. We must continue to pursue a fiscal and economic agenda that keeps these gains on track.
“As we begin the budget process, I look forward to working toward making tax relief permanent and reforming mandatory government spending to eliminate unnecessary waste.”
