WASHINGTON - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, made the following statement today regarding the launch of the U.S. - Chile Free Trade Coalition:
“Now that we’ve given President Bush Trade Promotion Authority, it’s time to get to work. This is a huge step forward in reestablishing America’s trade leadership for the 21st century. I applaud Ambassador Zoellick for moving quickly to complete the U.S. - Chile Free Trade Agreement and opening doors for America’s consumers businesses. I also want to commend the Coalition for bringing enthusiasm and dedication to the task at hand. Working together, we will be able to move quickly to secure an agreement that will help grow our economy and lay the foundation for an even bigger Free Trade Agreement of the Americas by 2005.”
