Congressman Dreier Announces Application Process For Annual Youth Volunteer Award

April 2, 2007

SAN DIMAS, CA - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas), announced that applications are now available for his annual Youth Volunteer Award. Over the last several years Congressman David Dreier has held this annual event to honor the contributions young people have made to the community through volunteer work. The award is open to all high school students between the ages of 14 and 18 residing in the 26th Congressional District.

Dreier stated, "Each year I have the privilege of honoring these young volunteers and it is always exciting to see the level of responsibility and commitment they give to our community. Far too often teenagers are not recognized for the good they have done and my goal is to make sure that they receive the recognition they deserve."

Applications are available online at http://dreier.house.gov/youth.htm or can be picked up at Congressman Dreier's district office at 510 East Foothill Boulevard, Suite 201, San Dimas, CA 91773. Those interested in applying must complete an application documenting their volunteer service, write a 250-500 word essay describing the benefits of his/her service to the community, submit one letter of reference, and have an informal interview with the Award Council. The office can be reached by calling (626) 852-2626 or (866) 373-6321. The deadline for completed applications is 5 PM on Friday, April 13, 2007.
