THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR LARGE-AREA HIGH-QUANTUM-EFFICIENCY LINEAR-MODE AVALANCHE-PHOTODIODE FREE-SPACE OPTICAL RECEIVER FOR USE AT 1064 NM WAVELENGTH. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued.
The purpose of this amendment is to modify the following specifications:
If the detector noise is the limiting factor (in contrast to the 3. trans-impedance amplifier), the optical receiver delivered can be a subset of an array (e.g. a single array pixel - with a diameter smaller than 200 microns). The goal is to provide a deliverable receiver (or array element) that demonstrates a credible path to a full receiver with the above specifications. Ideally the receiver would be a single large detector, but an array is acceptable if required.
Deliverables:
1. A study (minimum 5 pages) that provides a technical approach and plan (cost/schedule) for the development of a large-area high-quantum-efficiency linear-mode avalanche-photodiode free-space optical receiver for use at 1064 nm wavelength.
2. One large-area (or smaller area single array element), high-quantum-efficiency linear-mode avalanche-photodiode free-space optical receiver for use at 1064 nm wavelength. Single hermetically-sealed package that includes detector, electrical amplifier and thermo-electric cooler (prefer TO-style package).
Total Noise Equivalent Power in dark averaged over the 3 dB electrical bandwidth 100 fW/Hz1/2 max. 10 fW/Hz1/2 max.
The due date for receipt of offers is extended to September 9, 2008.
