NASA/GRC has a requirement for 15 EACH OF A NCP12-2 HI RATE LI CELLS, AND 15 EACH OF A NCP25-2 HI RATE LI CELLS.
NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from YARDNEY TECHNICAL PRODUCTS INC., 82 MECHANIC ST., PAWCATUCK, CT 06379-2154
REASON FOR THE SOLE SOURCE: YARDNEY IS THE ONLY KNOWN MANUFACTURER THAT CAN MEET ALL OF THE MISSION REQUIREMENTS AND WHOSE CONFIGURATION IN A BATTERY CAN BE ADAPTED TO STILL MEET THE MISSION PROFILE IF LOADS CHANGE. THESE CAN ALSO BE PURCHASED IN SMALL QUANTITIES AS NEEDED.
The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 3/13/07. DUE TO THE URGENCY OF THIS PROGRAM, NO QUOTES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE ABOVE DUE DATE.(ANY QUOTES SUBMITTED SHALL BE SENT TO THE NASA GLENN RESEARCH CENTER, 21000 BROOKPARK RD., ATTN: DENNIS D. PEHOTSKY,MAIL STOP 500-319, CLEVELAND, OH 44135). Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
