Key Intersection Safety Resources

Intersections are critical components of the highway network. They are essentially “planned points of conflict” where all road users—passenger cars, heavy trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians—must be assigned the right-of-way in an orderly and safe fashion when moving through intersections. The many complexities and safety issues associated with intersections are covered in the publications, CDs, training courses, and technical assistance programs offered through the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) listed below.
