SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY RECEIVES $741,777 IN HEAD START FUNDS Washington- US Congressman Jerry Costello announced today that Southern Illinois University at Carbondale will receive $741,777 in funds to deliver educational services from July 1, 2000 to June 30 2001.
"Head Start is one of the most effective federal programs at providing young, disadvantaged children with an equal opportunity to learn," said Costello, who has continually fought to increase funding for the Head Start program in Congress.
This grant, from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, provides full-year part-day handicapped training and technical assistance.
