U.S. CONGRESSMAN COSTELLO ACCEPTS KOREAN WAR VETERAN REGISTRY
Belleville, IL-- In a ceremony held on Monday morning, July 17, 2000 at the Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home, U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) met with Korean War veterans and accepted a Korean War Veteran memorial booklet.
On June 25th of this year, in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War, Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home placed a memorial book on display at the funeral home in Belleville to allow Korean War veterans and their families to sign the register. By July 4th, over 125 individuals had signed the register.
Congressman Costello accepted the register and pledged to take it to Washington D.C. where he will present to officials at the Korean War History Museum.
