Washington -- U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the House of Representatives has approved $21.4 million for M919 ammunition for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle's 25mm Bushmaster cannon - which is loaded, assembled, and packed by General Dynamics in Marion - as part of the Defense Appropriations Conference Report for Fiscal Year 2003. The Marion plant employs 455 people. The Senate and President Bush are expected to approve the legislation.
"This is an important project for the national defense of the United States and the regional economy," said Costello. "I am pleased that we have passed this necessary legislation."
