GRANITE CITY, IL- On Monday, May 13, 2002 U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello, (D-Ill) presented military medals to honor the service of two area veterans at his Granite City District office.
Costello presented medals to Mrs. Mary Louise Meyers of Cottage Hills, Illinois. Mrs. Meyers husband, James Meyers, who is passed away in January of this year, served during WW II in the United States Army from 1944-1947. Congressman Costello presented Mrs. Meyers with James' medals at ceremonies in his office in Granite City. He presented her with James' Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Star, the American Campaign Medal, the WW II Victory Medal and the Honorable Service Lapel Pin.
Congressman Costello also presented medals to Charles Tegal of Granite City. He participated in several military campaigns throughout southern Europe and the Middle-East. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze and 1 Silver star, the WW II Victory Medal, the Honorable Service Lapel Button and the Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar.
Both families contacted Congressman Costello to secure their medals for their service to the United States military.
