U.S. CONGRESSMAN JERRY COSTELLO ADDRESSES KASKASKIA STAKEHOLDERS ON RIVER TOUR

EVANSVILLE, IL- On Friday, July 19, 2002 U.S. Representative Jerry Costello (D-IL) toured the Kaskaskia River Watershed along with representatives from the Kaskaskia Stakeholders group.

Costello boarded the tour boat in Evansville and addressed the over 250 participants with the tour about the importance of the Kaskaskia river to the regional economy. He briefed the audience with the current status of legislation that will impact the river and also emphasized the importance recreational opportunity has to the area. Also reviewed on the tour was an update on the Evansville riverfront redevelopment plan and projects underway in the Kaskaskia Regional Port District in Baldwin.

The Kaskaskia Stakeholders group is made up of area business, government and agricultural interests that promote the development of the Kaskaskia River.
