SIUC RECEIVES TELECOMMUNICATIONS GRANT

Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Southern Illinois University Carbondale has been awarded a $63,035 Public Telecommunications Facilities Program grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology of the U.S. Department of Commerce.  The funds will be used to purchase and install a standby power generator for WSIU's primary transmitter as well as make improvements to the HVAC system and electrical service in the station's transmitter building. 

"Thousands of people enjoy the programming of the University's television and radio stations," said Costello.  "This is another way that SIUC serves the region and I will continue to work to support these efforts."
