Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that two fire departments and an ambulance service in Southern Illinois have received Assistance to Firefighters grants through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program.
"Our first responders need adequate resources to do their jobs," said Costello. "These funds will not only enhance fire protection, but other emergency needs as well. I will continue to work to maintain this program as a priority in the federal budget."
