Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Carbondale Township Fire Department has received a $103,835 Assistance to Firefighters grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The funds will be used for operations and safety. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program.
"These are important resources that help keep our first responders and our communities safe," said Costello. "I will continue to work to make this funding a priority of the federal budget and to ensure that rural areas are included in the program."
