Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the City of Sparta has received a $7,400,000 Water and Waste Disposal loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Rural Development. The funds will be used to construct a new 1.8 million gallon per day water treatment plant to meet Sparta's current and future needs for both residential and commercial development.
"An adequate water supply is essential to economic development and enhanced quality of life," said Costello. "I will continue to work to ensure that these resources are available to our communities."
