LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS RECEIVE FIREFIGHTERS GRANTS

Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that two area fire departments have received Assistance to Firefighters grants through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program. 

"Our first responders put their lives on the line to ensure our safety," said Costello.  "We must do all that we can to see that they have the equipment and training they need to do their job effectively and to keep themselves safe as well."
