Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Southwestern Illinois Metropolitan Regional Planning Commission has been awarded a $52,628 grant by the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The funds will be used to maintain an economic development plan to retain area jobs.
"Our area has benefited from a regional approach to economic development, and these resources will help continue that work," Costello said. "It is important to anticipate future employment trends while preserving the jobs that are here today."
