Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the DuQuoin High School library in DuQuoin, Illinois has received a We the People Bookshelf award from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The DuQuoin High School library will receive 15 classic books and supporting materials relating to this year's theme of "freedom." The library at DuQuoin High will organize programs that highlight the theme and encourage young readers to explore these important works of literature.
"This program helps children develop good reading skills and an appreciation for history and literature, which will make them better students," said Costello. "Libraries do a great job of making learning fun, and these additional resources will help in that effort."
