Elkville, IL - On Tuesday, May 31, 2005, U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) presented a Department of Homeland Security Direct Equipment Assistance grant check to Elkville Fire Chief Kevin Wright, Elkville Mayor Lance Bedar and officials of the Elkville Volunteer Fire Department at the Elkville Fire Station located at 105 N. Fifth Street Elkville, Illinois.
Costello presented Chief Wright, Mayor Bedar and local Fire and Police Department officials with a mock grant check in the amount of $12,500. The Elkville Fire Department will use these funds to purchase a thermal imaging camera.
The Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Grant Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The CEDAP grant program provides smaller law enforcement and emergency responder agencies with equipment items that will enhance and support their first responder service.
