Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Southern Illinois University Carbondale has been awarded a $245,639 grant from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The funds will be used for research pertaining to mothers and children.
"Research grants help to fulfill the goals set out for the university in the Southern at 150 plan," Costello said. "Federal research and development provides tremendous benefits to not only the university, but all of society. Innovation is the foremost driver of our economy, and I will continue to make sure that we are devoting sufficient resources to these activities."
