Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Energy Volunteer Fire Department has received a $124,650 Assistance to Firefighters grant through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The funds will be used to purchase a firefighting vehicle. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program.
"Getting these resources directly to our local first responders is an important way to enhance safety in our communities," said Costello. "Our firefighters put their lives on the line everyday and need adequate equipment to do their jobs."
