Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Williamson County has received a $303,853 grant through the U.S. Department of Justice. The funds are part of the Grants to Encourage Arrest Policies and Enforcement of Protection Orders program, which enhances victim safety and pro-arrest policies as an effective domestic violence intervention as part of a coordinated community response. The Williamson County Domestic Violence Task Force will administer the project.
"Everyone deserves proper representation and access to our legal system," said Costello, a former law enforcement official. "Violence against women often goes unreported. This funding will allow authorities to reach out to victims and help make our communities safer."
