ALTON RECEIVES EDUCATION GRANT

Washington- U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Alton School District has been awarded a $49,773 Smaller Learning Communities grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The funds will be used for the planning and implementation or expansion of small, safe, and successful learning environments in large public high schools.

"We know that students learn better in smaller classroom settings," said Costello. "This funding will allow innovative strategies to enhance student achievement."
