Washington- U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Franklin/Williamson Regional Office of Education has been awarded a $361,080 Community Technology Centers grant through the U.S. Department of Education.
The Community Technology Centers program provides improved learning outcomes for disadvantaged adults and children in urban and rural communities through the use of technology. The grant will be used to establish three community technology centers that will focus on improving skills in three areas: Essential Technology, Basic Literacy Skills and Career Development and Preparation.
"I am pleased that these funds will upgrade the technology capability of area schools," said Costello. "Improved technologies are enhancing the ability of people to learn while also giving them a basic understanding of technology that is necessary for future success."
