Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Southwestern Illinois Metropolitan Regional Planning Commission has been awarded a $53,000 grant by the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The funds will be used to maintain an economic development plan to retain area jobs.
"These are important resources for economic development in our region, particularly when the economy remains sluggish," Costello said. "Preserving jobs while preparing for future business growth helps communities in the Metro East."
