Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Immigration Project, Inc., located in Granite City, has received a $220,531 grant through the Legal Assistance for Victims program of the Violence Against Women Office of the U.S. Department of Justice. The funds will be used to hire a full-time attorney and two other staff members to enhance the provision of domestic violence services.
"Domestic violence is a serious crime and this money will allow for better education and prevention as well as outreach to victims," said Costello, a former law enforcement official. "I support these efforts to enhance the safety of our communities."
