SIU-C RECEIVES EDUCATION GRANT

Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Southern Illinois University at Carbondale has been awarded a $35,700 Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad grant through the U.S. Department of Education. 

The two-year grant was awarded to an SIUC History Department faculty member to conduct historical research in the archives of libraries located in Lithuania which focuses on the history of ethnic relations in the region. The research will be published on the history of Vilnius, Lithuania. 

"The Fulbright Research Program is a prestigious award and provides a great opportunity for advanced learning," said Costello.  "I continue to support these opportunities for higher education advancement."
