Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Southern Illinois University Carbondale has been awarded a $75,000 Rehabilitation Long-Term Training - Undergraduate Education Program grant through the U.S. Department of Education. The funds cover the first year of an anticipated five-year grant, and will be used to graduate a minimum of 33 students with an undergraduate degree in Rehabilitation Services. Graduates will be prepared to work in vocational rehabilitation, supported employment or independent living service settings.
"This is the only program of its kind in the State of Illinois, and this grant will support its growth," said Costello. "The unique learning opportunity represented by the Rehabilitation major is part of what makes SIUC a great university and such an invaluable part of the region."
