Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Southern Illinois University Carbondale has received a $176,222 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The award is in support of the project "The Archaeological Precursors of the Mixtec Civilization."
"Support for this type of project helps advance the academic mission of the University," said Costello, a senior member of the House Science Committee. "As a nation, we must continue to invest in basic research as a means of educating our students and growing our economy. The National Science Foundation is an extremely important part of this effort and I will continue to work to ensure that the NSF remains a priority of the federal budget."
