ALEXANDER AND PULASKI COUNTIES RECEIVE USDA AWARDS
Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the following grants and loan have been awarded in Alexander and Pulaski Counties from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Rural Development:
- Community Health & Emergency Services, Inc., Cairo - $1.3 million loan to purchase an existing skilled care center for the elderly, insuring that these services will continue to be available.
- Pulaski County - $43,200 grant to purchase two fully-equipped patrol cars for the Sheriff's Department.
- Shawnee Community College, Ullin - $56,800 grant to purchase specialized instructional equipment for its major appliance repair laboratory.
"USDA grants leverage local and state dollars to meet pressing community needs," Costello said. "These projects will enhance medical care, public safety and workforce development."
