Unpaid internships are available throughout the year, on either a full-time or part-time basis, in the Washington, D.C., and Third District (Overland Park, Kansas City and Lawrence) offices of Rep. Dennis Moore. Internships are available to high school graduates and are commonly filled by undergraduate, graduate or law students.

Duties vary widely and include, but are not limited to: working with legislative staff drafting responses to constituent mail, monitoring hearings, and doing background research on legislative issues; working with district aides to help constituents resolve problems with government agencies; working with district staff to seek sources of grants funding for constituents; working with press staff on press outreach and information gathering projects; providing support work for schedulers and office managers; processing mail, answering phones and other staff support work.

Applicants typically will be asked to provide a resume and a short writing sample. Applicants with social work or journalism backgrounds are actively sought for Kansas-based internships. These internships are intended to be educational experiences; our offices will work with your institutions of higher education to help you obtain academic credit for interning.
