Moore Supports Stem Cell Research

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District – Kansas) released the following statement on Wednesday in response to President Bush’s veto of the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2007. This legislation was overwhelmingly approved by the House of Representatives on both May 24, 2005, and January 1, 2007.

“I am disappointed that the President has again decided to veto an expansion of research that could bring hope to millions of people with life-threatening and debilitating diseases. The potential to improve lives with stem cell research is too great to dismiss. This bill has the overwhelming support of Congress and the American people.

“This should not be about Democrats or Republicans, but what is in the best interest of the American people. I believe that with greater federal support American scientists will have the chance to harness this groundbreaking science to save many lives and improve the quality of others.”
