House approves Moore's transportation funding requests totaling $24 million

District would benefit from $24 million in federal investments

(WASHINTON, DC) – Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District – Kansas) today announced the U.S. House approved $24 million in federal funding he requested for transportation projects in Kansas. The earmarks passed as part of H.R. 3550, the Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users, which is known as “TEA-LU.”

“This critical investment would enhance the quality of life for Kansans by reducing gridlock and traffic congestion,” Moore said. “Not only would this funding improve our highways and public transit in Kansas, investing in transportation would help create jobs and spur the economy.”

The Association of General Contractors of America and the U.S. Department of Transportation estimate that every billion of federal investment in highway and transit infrastructure would create 47,000 jobs. By securing $24 million in federal transportation funding for the Third District, Moore would help create over 1,000 jobs.

“Improving our transportation infrastructure would provide a boost to Kansas’ economic development goals,” Moore said.

Kansas projects that would be funded because of Moore’s efforts include:
