Moore to host Kansas Small Business Resource Conference

Event to provide advice on financing and doing business with the government

(KANSAS CITY, KAN.) – Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District – Kansas) is cooperating with the Johnson County Community College (JCCC) Small Business Development Center and the Kansas Women’s Business Center to host a Small Business Resource Conference on Monday, May 9th, 2005. The one-day event will offer businesspeople an affordable way to gain new skills to boost their bottom line.

“There are many opportunities available for small businesses to expand and improve their operations,” Moore said. “This conference will teach small businesspeople about the process for obtaining a government contract, as well as provide information on incentives for women- and minority-owned businesses.”

The purpose of the event is to expand marketing opportunities and provide an overview of financing options for small businesses. Other topics to be discussed include how to bid on and win federal contracts, human resource advice, and opportunities for women- and minority-owned businesses.

The conference will feature Sandy Praeger, Kansas Insurance Commissioner, who will outline health insurance options for small businesses. In addition to the speakers, valuable information will be available from exhibitors and through networking opportunities with other small business owners.

Congressman Moore’s Small Business Resource Conference is scheduled for Monday, May 9th, 2005 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It will be held at the Reardon Center, 500 Minnesota Avenue in Kansas City.

A limited number of spots are still available for the conference. To register, contact Moore’s office at (913) 383-2013. A registration fee of $20 includes all sessions, breakfast and a box lunch.
