Moore introduces resolution honoring FBI Agent Rowley

(WASHINGTON, DC) – In recognition of her courage in coming forward to detail problems within the FBI, Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District – Kansas) today introduced a congressional resolution commending FBI agent Coleen Rowley.

"As a former district attorney, I know any law enforcement organization is only as good as its people and their ability to gather and analyze information. FBI agent Rowley courageously came forward to reveal critical breakdowns in the FBI’s information gathering processes before September 11," Moore said.

"She did this without any regard for her own career or prospects for advancement. Agent Rowley personifies the American tradition of demonstrating integrity and selflessness in the service of our nation," Moore said.

After sending a detailed letter to FBI Director Robert Muller and key members of Congress in May, Rowley was called to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday. She described how multiple levels of bureaucracy within the FBI hampered field agents’ efforts to pursue investigations of terrorist suspects.

The text of Moore’s resolution, which was introduced Thursday morning, appears below.
