About Us

[Photograph]: A Forest Service employee is helping some  vacationers. Mission: To develop information, methodology, and models needed to better integrate analyses of economic efficiency and economic effects into forest management decisions on public lands.

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
This Research Work Unit is housed at the Forestry Sciences Laboratory, in Missoula, Montana. Our (acting) Project Leader is a Research Forester. The staff include economists and research foresters (emphasis in forest economics), specialists in software design and development, landscape modeling experts, biologists, geographers, and our ever-helpful program assistant.

 

STAFF
The economics unit is lead by a research scientist Project Leader, and is staffed with research economists, other science and technology professionals, students and support personnel.

PARTNERS, CLIENTS, & CONTRACTORS
We have numerous partners and clients in research and development, including units of other research stations (PNW and PSW), The University of Montana, the Northern Region, the Bitterroot National Forest, Forest Service Fire and Aviation Management, the Inventory and Monitoring Institute, and others.
