Patterson, Patricia A.; Neiman, Kenneth E.; Tonn, Jonalea K. Field guide to forest plants of northern Idaho. General Technical Report INT-180. Ogden, UT: U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Intermountain Research Station; 1985. 246 p.

This field guide -- designed for use by people with minimal botanical training -- is an identification aid for nearly 200 plant species having ecological indicator value in northern Idaho forest habitat types. It contains line drawings, simplified taxonomic descriptions , characteristics tables, conspectuses, and keys. It emphasizes characteristics useful for field identification of many common and special interest plants. This is not a comprehensive taxonomy of northern Idaho flora.
