Introduced in 2006, Google partnered with the National Park Service to create a new abundance of information on our nation’s beautiful National Parks using the popular Google Earth program. The new National Park Service overlay allows users to view detailed park information including visitor facilities, boundary information, and over 10,000 miles of trails in 58 national parks. The Committee on Natural Resources is proud to offer its visitors this opportunity to enjoy the United States in a way never available before.

Instructions

1. Download Google Earth by clicking on the button above. (You will be taken to Google.com for the Google Earth download.)
2. Install Google Earth on your computer
3. After opening Google Earth, you will see a panel on the lower left titled “Layers”. Find the box marked “Parks and Recreational Areas” and check the box to enable the layer.
4. Zoom in closer to the United States to view all the parks information. Enjoy 58 national parks and over 10,000 miles of trails!
