Insuring our Future: Judy visits with actress Molly Shannon during a reception on Capitol Hill.  Ms. Shannon, a former cast member of Saturday Night Live, is this year’s spokesperson for Life Insurance Awareness Month, a national campaign to educate consumers about their life insurance needs and take the actions necessary to achieve financial security for their families.  Biggert is the sponsor of H.Res. 584, a resolution supporting the goals and ideals of Life Insurance Awareness Month.

“There are still far too many stories of families that have had their tragedies compounded because they lacked sufficient resources,” said Biggert.  “Because of insufficient or no coverage, family members often are forced to work extra jobs or longer hours, borrow money, or move to less desirable housing.”

Protecting Our Troops:  Judy takes a moment to inspect the latest in Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicles.  Manufactured by International Military and Government, LLC, based in Warrenville, Illinois, the MaxxPro MRAP has a special V-shaped hull designed to deflect explosive blasts away from the crew area.  It can withstand arms fire, mine blasts, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and toxic environments.  On May 24, 2007, Judy voted to provide the military with $3.2 billion to equip our troops with the latest in armored transportation.

Judy speaks at a press conference on homelessness.  The event was sponsored by more than a dozen homeless advocacy organizations in commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.  To read her full remarks, please click here.
