U.S. CONGRESSMAN JERRY COSTELLO PARTICIPATES IN CLOSING CEREMONIES FOR THE “MOVING WALL” VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL IN HECKER

Hecker - On Monday, September 1, 2008 U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) participated in the closing ceremonies for the “Moving Wall” Vietnam Veterans Memorial. This memorial, which is a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., has been touring the country and was on display in Hecker from August 28 to September 1.

“This memorial provides an opportunity for all Americans to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War,” said Costello. “Hosting the ‘Moving Wall’ in Hecker provided area residents who may not be able to travel to Washington, D.C. the opportunity to experience this moving tribute.”
