AREA ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVE DRUG-FREE COMMUNITIES GRANTS

Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that two local organizations have received Drug-Free Communities Program grants through the Office of National Drug Control Policy. The funds will be used for ongoing community-based anti-drug efforts.

Recipients include:

  • $99,281 - Alton Youth Development Strategy Partnership
  • $100,000 - Tri-Cities Drug Free Communities Coalition, serving Granite City, Madison and Venice.

“Drug abuse has serious consequences, for communities as well as individuals and families,” said Costello, a former law enforcement official. “These funds will target prevention and treatment strategies in Madison County to combat the problems associated with drugs.”
