COSTELLO CONTACTS OLIN/WINCHESTER TO DISCUSS POTENTIAL MOVE OF WINCHESTER MILITARY PACKING OPERATION

Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) contacted Dick Hammett, President of the Winchester Ammunition division of Olin today to express his concern over the possible move of Winchester’s military packing operation from the East Alton plant. The move would result in a loss of approximately 100 jobs from the area. While a decision is not final, Winchester has notified the Machinists Union and is in discussions with them concerning the potential move.

Costello urged Olin/Winchester to keep the military packing operation at the East Alton plant and offered any help that he could provide to make that happen.

The Olin/Winchester plant at East Alton has 1,450 employees.
